Gathering of Circles 2001

Planning Meeting Recap

 

April 7, 2001 - Temple, Texas

 

 

Ten of us gathered at Pamela and Brett's house on Saturday afternoon to discuss this years Gathering of Circles event scheduled for August 2-5, 2001 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. We sat outside on the grass under giant live oak trees in the presence of  birds, squirrels, dogs, cats, snakes, and various other critters (you know Brett). We pulled in the power of last years gathering to energize us in the work that lay ahead. We pulled a card from the Lakota Power deck:

Carolyn Milton is going to head up the workshops this year so contact her at carolyn@abilene.com (915) 691-1977 if you have a workshop. Pamela Scheler and Brett Messer is going to do the Give-a-way. We still do not have a sweat lodge coordinator but Cliff Buchanan volunteered to bring wood courtesy of JJ Hamilton's trailer. Kelly Knox of Austin, although she was not at the meeting, has agreed to coordinate the Sweet Medicine Dance. Stephanie Minter of Abilene and Rena McDaniel of Brownwood will be planning a fantastic outing for the kids. KiethLee Camp and JJ Hamilton both of Odessa will be sharing the registration table and hospitality tent responsibilities. KeithLee also will be getting the Forest Service permit this year. Kristie Hunger and JJ Hamilton each have sources for getting the t-shirts made and will get back to us on costs. It was decided that the regular price for the t-shirts will go up to $15. Remember, all monies left over will go back into the GOC pot. Pamela volunteered to hold a fireside chat during the sweat lodge time period this year for those who can not or do not wish to sweat. Pete Phillips is checking out a potential speaker to be announced at a later date.

 

My thanks to Lois Colbridge for creating a wonderful scrapbook for the GOC 2000 event. I will be putting it on the web site soon for all to enjoy. Please e-mail me if you have someone that needs to be added to our GOC list. Paper brochures will be mailed only to those without e-mail addresses. Be sure your e-mail address is correct.
