The design for this year symbolizes this coming together of
difference and common bond through spirit and ceremony. In Native American
tradition there are five directions; North, South, East, West, and
Spirit/Void/Unknown. There are many different meanings for each direction
from each different tribe, except the fifth, that is Spirit. Within the four
earthly directions there is Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. Also represented
with the directions are Wisdom/ Logic/Balance, Introspection/
Death/Intuition, Trust /Innocence/ Emotions, and Illumination /Enlightenment
/Beauty. Kristie Hunger did the artwork on this years outstanding design. She also is in charge of the T-shirts. T-shirts are available in white, ash, and natural (off-white.) Sizes are S, M, L, XL ($12); XXL,XXXL ($15); 4X,5X ($17). Order from Kristie Hunger, 4602 54th #231, Lubbock TX 79414, 806-795-3562, Dragontrea@aol.com or from Cliff. Order now! |

Medicine Wheel and Pipe Ceremony
Workshop The medicine wheel and pipe ceremony
are fundamental aspects of our gatherings. Pamela Scheler opens each
gathering with a pipe ceremony which addresses the directions. Yet many
people are unfamiliar with the meanings associated with these ritual aspects
of our ceremonies. Both the medicine wheel and the pipe ceremonies come from
ancient lineages and from many cultures. Pamela, Carol, and Carolyn will
present some of the history, the traditions, and the reasons we incorporate
these teachings in our gatherings. They will discuss the basic teachings of
the four directions, North, South, East, and West. The two directions, the
heavens (Father Sky) and the earth (Mother Earth), will be explained as the
symbolic two additional directions. Carol Dawn often addresses the direction
of the "Gateway". This Gateway has become our entry into the
"Fifth World" we are now in process of creating. Teachings on this
new fifth direction (or seventh direction {or tenth direction in Buddhist
traditions}) will complete this basic overview of the medicine wheel and pipe
ceremony. |

Welcome to the Gathering of Circles 2000. This annual event is sponsored and supported by various individuals and circles of people in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, California, Colorado, Virginia, and other states who wish to get together and share ideas, ceremonies, spirituality, talents, and friendship. We gather on Thursday night for the opening pipe ceremony and introductions. Friday morning we have a circle for all in which we provide an itinerary of the various activities for the weekend. These events include, but are not limited to, workshops on massage, yoga, Shamanic drumming, prayer fan making, drum making, balancing chakras, songs workshop, face painting, world class pancake breakfast, children's activities, sweat lodges, "Sweet Medicine Dance", Give-A-Way, and feast. Friday afternoon and Saturday morning are scheduled workshops. Separate Men and Women's sweat lodges will be held Friday night, and a co-ed sweat will be available on Saturday night after the Dance. Sunday morning we will all gather again for the give-a-way ceremony and feast. We should be ready to leave the area by 2:00 p.m. |
|
Give-a-way: Bring a gift wrapped in a paper bag for the “give-a-way.” This should be something of significance (meaningful) to you, which you now want to relinquish your attachment to, and let pass on to a new keeper. The size or monetary value of this item is irrelevant but the more significant to you the better. It may be symbolic of something of yourself, which you have or wish to turn loose of so that your “hands” are freed up for your present pursuits. Listen to your heart in deciding what to “give-a-way” at this time. |
|
Directions: Go to Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Take Hwy 130 South out of Cloudcroft for 1.2 miles. Turn left at Sleepy Grass Campground or 0.7 miles. Turn right on 5661 for 3.9 miles.
